In this training, I’m going to show you the 3 steps to increase your e-commerce sales by 18% or more without worrying about releasing a new product, recruiting influencers, or hoping your content marketing converts.
This strategy has been used at multiple Shopify stores. Here were the results from the past 30 days:
Now, with that out of the way, let’s talk about you and your current situation.
Maybe you have a great store, a growing list of repeat happy customers, and a plucky team making it happen,
But you are struggling to get more orders faster.
You know that if you can grow faster you can attract more customers, develop more products to wow your customers, and recruit the team to make it all happen.
Maybe you want to make sure your company’s brand is strong and sustainable—not just another e-commerce flash-in-the-pan.
With that being said, you see customer acquisition costs are getting higher and higher.
It’s getting easier and easier for customers to comparison shop and find great deals. Plus it’s getting easier and easier for anyone to compete with you.
All making it harder for you to increase orders—and to keep customers coming back again and again.
From your own use of online stores like Amazon, you know that consumers expect a wide selection of options, low prices, and fast delivery.
And their expectations keep getting higher.
Maybe you know there is a gap between your customer’s expectations and your store experience, but you don’t know what steps to take to bridge it.
This means if you want to grow your business, your funnel needs to be optimized soup-to-nuts to create the fast, helpful, Amazon-like buying experience customers are looking for.
If you tried redoing your funnel, recruiting influencers to promote your products, spending a fortune on ads, but still didn’t get any results, don’t worry. It’s NOT your fault…
There are a lot of tools out there that don’t properly help you convert your hard-won site visitors into as many orders as possible…
Who is this for?
Pay attention if you:
Now before we dive in, I want to share with you the core concept.
If you can internalize this, everything will be that much easier for you. Things will work.
Here it is: In e-commerce, the fortune is in the follow-up.
I’ll say it again. In e-commerce, the fortune is in the follow-up.
What does that mean exactly? Well when someone comes by your store they have to add an item to their cart. However, only 10-30% of those people will purchase immediately.
Perhaps counterintuitively, the majority will abandon their cart and never experience your amazing product.
So to reach the 70-90% who abandon their carts, we need to follow up with them.
And according to our research, case studies, and results:
The fastest way to do this is with something called Cart Based Marketing.
So this is the key concept. If you don’t know what Cart Based Marketing is, just sit tight and we'll explain.
Who are you and what makes you qualified?
My name is Jason Bapna and I’m a software engineer turned Shopify e-commerce expert.
Not that it really matters, but I hold a BS in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech.
I’ve worked for successful e-commerce brands, founded my own called JRB Silk Fabrics, one of the largest distributors of silk fabrics in the USA, and most recently founded Consistent Cart.
Through Consistent Cart, I have helped over 10,000 stores grow their business and helped those stores book more than $45 million in additional sales in 2018 alone.
So with that out of the way, let’s get to the juicy 3-steps.
Step #1 - Identify your site visitors that are likely to buy.
Did you know there are clear tell-tale signs that some visitors are more likely to buy than others? These buyers will behave much differently than most of the tire-kickers that stop by your site.
How do you know who is ready to purchase and who isn’t? By seeing which visitors add items to their cart. Simple right?
Now maybe you think buying from your site is easy. That you’ve got a beautiful, well-designed, store that’s optimized for conversions and as a result the people who visit and don’t buy are just never going to buy. This is a common misconception!
The truth is that no matter how well designed your site is, most buyers do not buy on their first visit! In fact only 10 - 30% of visitors who add an item to their cart will purchase immediately.
This leaves 70 - 90% of visitors who add an item to a cart to follow up with! They’ve given you a great signal that they are likely to buy so you need to focus your attention on marketing to them.
Step #2 - Send them the right message, at the right time, in the right way to engage them.
So now that we’ve identify our potential buyers, how do we convert them into customers?
Well maybe you’ve heard of the idea of paid, earned, and owned media? To reach your audience you can use any of these channels. Paid channels include Facebook Ads and Google AdWords. Earned channels include others’ sharing your content on social media and SEO.
Owned media is the holy grail. These are your lists! What do I mean by lists? Your email list, your Facebook Messenger list, and your social media followers. It’s the group of people that have opted-in to receive communications from you.
If you think you need to become a master at retargeting ads on Facebook and Google you’d be completely mistaken!
The truth is you don’t have to spend a ton on ads or retargeting to re-engage these visitors who are mostly likely to buy.
In fact you can ensure you get the visitor’s email address or permission to message them on Facebook Messenger when they add an item to their cart.
So now these visitors are a part of your owned audience. You no longer have to pay anyone to reach them at the right time with the right message! You have a direct line to these folks ready to buy from you and in most businesses you can directly correlate their success to the size of their owned audience.
Growing your owned audience is essential to growing your Shopify store.
Step #3 - Make it easy for them to take action and purchase (where ever they are).
So now you’ve identified who is ready to buy and how to reach them for practically nothing. Let’s look at the 3rd and final step.
Now I don’t know about you but when I’m looking to purchase something online I might look at it from my desktop computer...but then look at it again from my mobile smartphone.
Now if you’re thinking I’m the exception to the rule and that almost all purchases begin on the desktop and finish on the desktop you’d be completely mistaken!
In fact, all purchases don’t even start and finish on Shopify store websites!
The truth is that potential buyers from your store want it to be as easy as possible to complete their purchase on a new device or in a new channel.
That’s why it’s so important to make it easy for them to complete the purchase where ever they are. Whether they are viewing your site on their mobile phone or Facebook Messenger, make it as easy as possible for them to purchase and you’ll see an increase in sales.
So let me ask you a question:
